The scientific background behind the expectations

A 2025 comprehensive review summarized preclinical signals related to analgesia, anti-convulsant, anti-thrombotic, and anti-tumor effects from scorpion bodies and venom. These results create expectations that scorpions could be linked to the treatment of pain, convulsions, or even tumors.

However, the same review concluded that high-quality human clinical trials are lacking. More importantly, a significant portion of these signals comes from cellular and animal studies using venom components or isolated proteins. The cellular selectivity and animal results of scorpion venom or isolated peptides do not imply safe anti-cancer or analgesic effects for scorpion powder of unclear composition.

In other words, there is a large gap between what is observed in the laboratory and what a person consumes at home.

Products such as scorpion powder, pills, alcohol extracts, and isolated peptide products may appear on the market. First, it must be verified whether the product is a processed body of official origin, a different species, a live scorpion, or isolated scorpion venom.
